It's an app that teaches you to "pronounce English like an American through real conversations". This is a great use of artificial intelligence in language learning.

ELSA Speak lets you work through a range of activities that focus on specific sounds in English. Most activities involve recording the pronunciation of a word or phrase. The sentences are linked to topics (introductions, family, business, food and drink, etc.), so you can not only improve your pronunciation, but also learn phrases related to your own environment. 

You can choose the skill (sounds) you are interested in. Most of the activities involve recording sentences like the above.

The app models the correct pronunciation and then records your attempt. You can listen back to a recording of your voice and get instant feedback on your performance.

You can retry as many times as you like. There are also some other exercises, such as listening exercises for discrimination, plus some conversations are performed as if they were real conversations.

The app isn't just about pronunciation. It has a dictionary too, where it provides definitions, pictures and example sentences (plus a pronunciation model) to explain various words. On the pronunciation side, the dictionary also acts as a phrasebook - you can type in what you want to say and the app will model the correct pronunciation for your phrase.

The app maps your progress, records the words and phrases you have difficulty with so you can review them, and provides an assessment function.

Overall, the app is very promising. Instant feedback is by far the best feature. You get tips on how to articulate each sound, and have the opportunity to put this feedback into practice immediately.
